Sowore Approaches Court Again Over Bail

Omoyele Sowore, the pro-democracy activist and the convener of the revolution now protest who has been detained for more than a month has filed a case to the Federal high court in Abuja through his lawyer requesting for bail on self-recognition. 

His lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN), a human right lawyer as well filed the motion asking the court to grant his client, Omoyele Sowore a bail on the ground of self-recognition or any other conditions that are deemed fit to the court to act on under any circumstances of the case.

According to his lawyer, Sowore has the right to be heard fairly, to defend his dignity as human, freedom, good health and freedom to move but all these are under threat and being violated unlawfully.

He quoted the law saying, “Section 28 (4) of the Terrorism Prevention (Amendment) Act 2013, a person detained pursuant to Section 27 (1) can be admitted to bail by the court.”

He said other Nigerians who were arrested in respect to the August 5th protest had been released in the different states on bail despite been arraigned. 

Unfortunately, his client has been detained since August 3rd and had never been charged with any criminal accusations.
